About Seaside Fresh

Heritage-based.  Peaceful harvest.  Fresh from the Sea.

Every catch at Seaside Fresh Lobster & Seafood Ltd. has a story.

We descend from the Mi'kmaq, whose holy affinity with the ocean spans thousands of years.  Fisheries were about history, ceremonial, and connection, not survival.  Today, that spirit leads us.

During the early 2000s fishing rights struggle, our community united.  We found healing in standing for recognition, not confrontation.  We fish peacefully and together, honouring tradition and development.

Our logo explains.  Bold, muscular lobster claws bear Mi'kmaq symbolism.  Broken arrows mean peace, fish symbolises abundance, and spring markings signal regeneration when our traps return to the sea.

Choose Seaside Fresh for more than excellent seafood.  You're choosing history, resilience, and a vow to fish ethically, honour our roots, and serve freshness with purpose.

Continuous Improvement

As Mi’kmaq people, our connection to the ocean is an ancient legacy, a sacred trust passed down through millennia. Our ancestors lived in profound harmony with the lands and waters, understanding the delicate balance and treating every resource with deep respect. Today, we walk in their footsteps, striving to honor that ancestral way of life in all we do within the seafood sector. For us, valuing the lobster and all gifts from the sea means more than just sustainable harvesting; it is a continuous act of respect for those who came before us. This reverence fuels our unwavering commitment to improving conservation, tirelessly working to keep our oceans pristine, and practicing responsible stewardship. By embracing these efforts, we not only protect the future but actively demonstrate the same respect our ancestors showed, ensuring their wisdom echoes in our actions and nourishes generations to come.

Location matters when buying fish

The waters off New Brunswick’s northeastern coast are among the clearest in Canada—on calm days, you can often see up to 25 feet below the surface. This pristine clarity reveals vibrant reef systems that are essential to the region’s lobster fishery. These rocky reefs offer abundant shelter, food, and breeding grounds, making them ideal habitats for lobsters to thrive. The natural structure protects lobsters from predators and strong currents, while supporting a rich ecosystem of small fish, shellfish, and marine plant life. This unique environment—combined with clean, cold, oxygen-rich waters—produces some of the healthiest and most flavorful lobsters on the market. Here, location truly matters.
